Hungarian Tarokk — Variants & House Rules

The basic Paskievics above is already the living tournament game; the additions are fewer here than anywhere else.

  • The full invitation system. The coded bids from the sidebar, formalized: which bids invite, which holds answer, and what silence means. The single biggest step from this chapter to a Budapest table.
  • The traditional all-pass. Tradition has no trial Three: when all four pass, the cards are thrown in, the same dealer redeals, and the next full round of deals is scored DOUBLE (overlapping doubles can stack to four times). Our trial Three is the house’s anti-timidity alternative; pick one.
  • Deeper Kontra ladders and stakes conventions vary by circle; agree on the ceiling before the first deal.
  • Other Hungarian games. Paskievics is the gateway: Illusztrált and Magas tarokk await beyond it, with wilder announcement boards. Online, with pointers.
  • The Traditional Scoring. Traditional zero-sum scoring.
