The invitation system, not a mistake. In living Hungarian play, certain otherwise pointless holds and bids are coded messages, most often some version of “I hold the XXI, partner mine, come find me.” This book teaches the machine, not the code: recognize that the bid means something, and look up the full convention online when you are ready for it.
