Calling the King: Example M1

KR-M1 Example

Your table plays the Kontra expansion. P1 has bid the Call and called a King. Before the first card falls, you hold: III, VI, Qdiamonds, Cspades, Jclubs, 2hearts, 3diamonds, 4diamonds, 8clubs, 9spades, 7spades, 10clubs.

Do you Kontra?

Answer

Hold your Kontra. Two low Taroks, no big Taroks, no King: the 12-count reads a bare 2, and nothing here tells you the Call is in trouble. Kontra doubles your loss right alongside your win, so it wants a real reason, your own strength or a clear read on the table, not a reflex. Save the double for a hand that actually earns it.
