Schnapsen

schnapsen

Two-player Austrian point-trick game with melding (marriages) and a distinctive trick-and-draw structure. Each player is dealt 5 cards; the bottom of the 10-card stock is turned up to set trump. In phase 1 (stock open) there is no follow-suit obligation and players draw a replacement after each trick; in phase 2 (stock closed or exhausted) strict follow-and-head rules apply. First player to reach 66 trick points (card_points + marriage bonuses) wins the deal; first to 7 game points wins the game (the 'Bummerl'). Playable with the traditional Pannonian/German-suited deck or with the custom Alpine-Tricks deck (same structure, different artwork).

Contracts

  • Schnapsen (default)Schnapsen has no declarable contract in the Königrufen sense; the single game mode is modelled as a single 'default' contract. Runtime outcome evaluation is deferred — dynamic rules (marriage declarations, stock-closing) require Brief 7.6 integration. All harvest rows emit outcome_unsupported_in_v1.
